Smedley Financial Services are Investment managers and very good at it.
They manage over $128 million dollars for their customers mainly in the 401(K) management market. Their problem was this:
- Each customer of Smedley Financial Services would have a 401(k)
- The details for all the transactions on this 401(k) account were stored on a secure website requiring a username and password.
- Their internal systems had no way of accessing this data.
- The data was required to keep their internal systems up to date.
- The data had to be manually collected by several people by hand over several days
- The data sometimes was wrong due to human errors.
Our Solution:
Due to the nature of their business and the security involved.
Smedley Financial Services opted for an in-house solution.
They purchased all source code from us and had two weeks training. To enable their in-house team to create data collection spiders.
- Record sets of the customers username and passwords were built
- Site Scraper Data collection spiders were created for each 401(k) management portal
- Each spider would use the record set to login to the management portal
- The spider would collect all transaction data from portal
- The spider would save all data to internal system
What used to take days with four to six people now takes only minutes.
The spider code is fully flexible to Smedley Financial Services requirements.
They have full control over the spider process and still remain anonymous by using the spiders inbuilt stealth technology.
Now they are building spiders to make trades on the 401(k) management portals.
